FAQs

How should I care for my handspun yarn, handknits and woven items?

All handspun yarn is washed after it is spun in preparation for its new home. For all handknits and woven items, hand washing in warm to hot water is recommended. My favorite wool wash is Eucalan No Rinse Wash.

Why is there vegetable matter in my yarn?

Most of the yarn in my shop is made from raw fleeces minimally processed by me or the local farms they come from. I try my best to catch as much vegetable matter in the spinning process as possible, but it’s inevitable that some will be missed. I believe that’s what makes handspun special and unique as it shows where wool actually comes from: sheep!

Are there any allergens I should worry about with your yarn or woven garments?

The yarn you are purchasing comes from a nonsmoking home that includes two tiny terriers.

What’s your return policy?

If you are at all unsatisfied with your products for any reason please contact us within seven days, for a refund of the full price of the product minus the shipping. As the buyer, you are responsible for the price of shipping when returning an item.

What knitting needle size should I use with your handspun yarn?

Each listing is labeled and specifies wraps per inch (WPIs). As with any handspun yarn, this can vary quite a bit throughout the skein. The following rules generally apply (though it’s always best to check the pattern you are using):

Fine or sport weight: size 3-6

Light worsted or DK (double knitting): size 5-7

Medium or worsted weight, afghan or Aran: size 7-9

Bulky or chunky: size 10-11

Super bulky: size 11-15
